Topps T-206

Topps T206 is aonther popular vintage style modern set from Topps. The cards are based on the extremely popular T206 tobacco cards that were produced from 1909-1911. That set produced some of the most famous and most sought after baseball cards in existance, including the Holy Grail of baseball cards, the T206 Honus Wagner. Certain examples of that card have brought in over a million dollars at auction.

Topps has produced T206 tribute subsets in the past, but in 2009 they released an entire set to mark the 100 year anniversary of the originals. The cards feature mostly modern players, as well as a few vintage greats. The cards are full size cards, unlike the originals which were significantly smaller. The cards have a washed out, artistic look to them with bright painted backgrounds somewhat similar to the originals.

Here are a few of the modern T206 cards:

Base cards: 300 regular sized cards plus an additional 50 short prints. These feature current players, upcoming rookies and prospects and a few vintage stars.

Mini cards: These are mostly parallel sets to the base cards. They are the size of the original T206 cards and have some of the same advertising on the backs as the originals including Carolina Brights, Cycle, Piedmont, Old Mill and Polar Bear. There are smaller 50 card chrome and silk mini sets.

Bronze cards: A parallel set to the base cards, and the same full size card as the base cards. Identical to the base cards except for the bronze border.

Autograph cards: Autographed mini cards that are framed in a larger standard size card.
